Axial moment

With the Canadian elections behind us and the US, our friendly neighbour to the south, preparing to vote the realization that we are living in an axial moment in history presents itself. Reminds me of this past summer in the Yukon, where the motto is "larger than life"...so it seems to me, is the upcoming election when so much will be decided. This election isn't only about staying or changing the course of political will and international relations, it is also a barometer to gauge whether or not the US (and to some degree, our own All White Male Premiership country) can truly walk the talk of inclusivity and broken racial barriers. In other words, is the Civil War of 1865 truly over and can a Black man occupy the White house. Yes, I capitalized those letters purposely. King's words of "I have a dream" which have been echoed by Obama, ring ever more piercingly at this moment and I for one believe that it is time, finally, to bring the dream out of it's (un)comfortable sleep and live it, immediately and ceaselessly...and to replace King's dream with another, equally powerful, unifying and timely one of global peace and co-operation...the next logical step after having broken the black/white racial barrier that has existed (with all it's incumbant stereotypes and prejudices). I for one have already cast my vote and will await the election results to see if it is truly time for new dreams or old, worn battles.
